Lolita Make-Up Bag Vol:1 The Basics

Sorry, Fibromites, this one is purely fashion related. Maybe the second volume should be on tricks for fibromites and make-up, since it can be hard when you are tired and achy.

Make-Up Basics

Lolita is a fashion where looking your best is a must. When wanting to look your best a little make up is needed to help enhance what is already there. So this is a general what to buy for every one, and I will get into different styles later on.

Always make sure you apply your make-up in a well lit area. Natural light is best, but not always possible. Avoid florescent lights.

UV Protective Moisturizer

The sun may heat the earth and keep us alive, but its rays are harmful to the skin! Harmful UV rays cause Cancer and premature aging. This is probably one of the most important things you can keep in your make-up bag.

Apply this to the face, neck, arms and anything that will be exposed to the sun. Even if you carry a parasol the UV rays can bounce up from the ground.

Concealer

This is another important one. Keep it around for blemishes or dreaded under-eye circles.

Apply over red areas, blemishes and under the eyes.

Foundation

Foundation helps even out skin tone and gives you a polished look. My personal favourite is mineral foundation. It’s light on the skin so you don’t have that caked on feeling.

Apply all over. Make sure to blend into the neck and hairline.

Transluecent Setting Powder

This will help set your make-up and reduce oil and shine through out the day.

Use a Powder Brush to apply all over. Make sure it blends in so you don’t have a powdery look.

Eyelash Curler

This will help your mascara do its job better! The lashes curl up and away from the eye making it appear more open and bright.

Hold for 5-10 seconds BEFORE mascara.

Mascara

Good mascara will make your lashes look longer and fuller giving your eye a little more pop.

Apply lightly and evenly. If you get clumping just use an eyelash comb to rearrange things.

Light Shimmery Eye-Shadow

When I say light I mean it. I am talking about a very light translucent colour just to add a little shimmer. This will brighten the eyes and make you look more “awake”.

Apply lightly over entire lid. You can also apply it on the brow bone if you like.

Light Blush

A light blush will help give you a healthy glow. Use it sparingly, just enough to add a little colour to your cheeks.

Apply lightly with a blush brush to the “apple” of your cheek. Make sure it’s well blended.

Lip Gloss

One of my favourite items. Especially if it has a nice flavour! Get a light colour with a little shimmer or shine to it to enhance those lips. It’s even better if it’s a moisturizing gloss.

Oil Absorbing Sheets

Take these everywhere you go! Especially in hot weather or if you have oily skin. A few blots and oil is gone and your make-up is still flawless.

So there’s your basics! Remember, when buying make-up it’s good to spend a little more so that you are getting something of good quality. Usually you can find good items even at a drugstore. My favourite drug store brands are L’Oreal and Maybelline. And if you want to spend a little more hit up the department stores. The girls at the make-up counters can be very helpful in finding the right colours for you.
